Don't Suffer Any Longer with Sciatic Pain
Have you ever experienced an excruciating shooting pain that runs down one leg? I did after the birth of our last child. I had just put him down for a nap and had gone to the freezer in our garage to start on dinner. I bent over and WHAM, the pain hit! What made it worse was I was now absolutely stuck in that bent over position.
Here I was, on the other side of the house, now kneeling on all fours on the floor, unable to get up and go to my crying baby. Not a pretty picture. Fortunately I had my phone with me and I knew a good chiropractor who was able to come home and help me!
Lately, it seems, we have had a lot of patients calling to schedule due to sciatic pain. Sometimes, like me, the pain comes on suddenly, perhaps after sneezing or coughing or other sudden movements. For others it is a slower onset of pain. Either way it is a painful and debilitating condition.
The sciatic nerve is the longest and widest nerve in our body. It runs from the low back, through the buttock and down the leg into the foot. Sciatic pain is usually not the result of an injury or trauma, but rather every-day wear and tear that can irritate the nerve, sometimes causing a bulging or degenerative disc. It is important to get treatment quickly, firstly to get you out of pain, but secondly to reduce the inflammation and disc damage that can cause weakness and longer term issues. Sciatic pain is something we treat regularly and depending on the severity may just require some chiropractic adjustments and massage or exercise. For others with a bulging disc, spinal decompression therapy may be the solution.
I am certainly grateful for the non-surgical and drug free solution I benefited from, which enabled me to get back to being a busy mother again.
