DO YOU SUFFER FROM PLANTAR FASCIITIS?

Sadly this condition is way more common than we would like. It is caused by irritation or degeneration of the ‘plantar fascia’, which is a thick band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes and supports the arch of your foot. Plantar Fasciitis primarily affects people between 40 and 60 yrs of age, but if you are carrying a few extra pounds that additional weight increases the stress on your feet. People that stand all day on hard surfaces or long distance runners often suffer with it, as do people with high arches or flat feet.

The hallmark symptom of Plantar Fasciitis is pain in the bottom of the foot, typically near the heel. This is usually most severe during the first few steps in the morning or after sitting for a long period. Once the foot is warmed up the pain often subsides, however it can get worse again after vigorous activity. Usually the pain is most noticeable after stopping activity rather than during it.

Our office now offers Shockwave therapy which can help eliminate your painful Plantar Fasciitis. Firstly it stimulates blood flow, which is essential for tissue repair and regeneration. Secondly, Shockwave therapy breaks down scar tissue and reduces calcification (hardened areas). Lastly, Shockwave is designed to provide lasting pain relief. If you would like to eliminate your Plantar Fasciitis, call and schedule an exam and see how we can improve the quality of your life.

RESULTS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Pain reduction – Many patients experience significant relief from chronic heel pain, often within a few weeks of treatment.

  • Improved mobility – Reduced inflammation and pain make walking, standing, and physical activity more comfortable.

  • Stimulated healing – The therapy promotes blood flow and stimulates tissue regeneration in the plantar fascia.

  • Reduced inflammation – Helps decrease chronic inflammation in the heel and surrounding tissues.

  • Breakdown of scar tissue – Can soften and remodel thickened or damaged tissue for better healing.

  • Avoidance of surgery – Often successful for patients who haven’t responded to rest, orthotics, or injections, potentially preventing the need for surgical intervention.

  • Quick sessions, minimal downtime – Treatments are short (usually 15–30 minutes) and patients can usually return to normal activities right away.

  • Long-term results – Many patients report sustained pain relief months or even years after treatment.

  • Non-invasive and drug-free – Provides an alternative to corticosteroid injections or pain medications.
